The #1 Way You’re All Leaving Money on the Table

leaving money on the table

There are a bunch of misconceptions about making money online.

I hate these myths because, at one point or another, they’ve all cost me TONS of money.

Time to break a little myth…

Twitter, or social media in general, is a powerful tool.

👉Yes, you need to have your own platform.
👉Yes, Twitter could shut you down at any time for whatever reason they like.
👉Yes, spending too much time on any platform could be a waste of time.

All those are legit arguments against using Twitter.

Having said all that, for myself and a few others who use Twitter strategically it is the most effective, organic way to build an email list.

Better than writing endless blog posts.

Definitely better than my humble little YouTube channel.

And it frustrates me to no end when people claim Twitter is useless for building an online business.

That’s just blatantly false.

It might not be a great fit for everyone, but

useless?

A waste of time?

Absolutely not.

You need to find a platform that works for you. Try a few different ones early on and see where your message resonates.

I originally thought that YouTube was going to be my main platform for this personal brand. But I didn’t just start a YouTube channel thankfully.

Don’t just assume that your original idea will work out. Test different options and then try to form a decision based on actual results – not your untrained “gut-feeling”.

Your gut doesn’t know bugger-all until you get some experience under your belt. Then you can start trusting your gut, but as a beginner, forget about it.

You need to test broadly before making a decision.

Luckily, I did that. That’s what led me to create a personal brand around teaching dropshipping in the first place…

Most of you don’t know this, but I created 2 different new Twitter accounts at the same time: One focuses around teaching dropshipping & the other sharing my beginner journey with crypto trading / investing.

The crypto-craze was in full swing at the time.

I was – and still am – fascinated by the topic.

My gut feeling said that my beginner journey would resonate with people and become a solid foundation for my personal brand.

I was 100% wrong.

Within 1 week, I could clearly see that more people were interested in my dropshipping advice than my crypto thoughts.

So did I rely on my initial gut-feeling?

Fuck no.

Did I look at the data & make a smart decision to go all-in on the dropshipping personal brand? Of course.

And thank god I did.

Thanks to that quick 1-week test, I avoided spending months going down a harder path.

More importantly, I realized there is huge interest in dropshipping & demand for solid information based on real experience.

And that’s the story of how this personal brand was born.

Now, I’m past 2400 followers on Twitter, have a rapidly-growing email list (thanks to Twitter) & successfully launched the most in-depth dropshipping course available.

Not bad for 4 months of work. Especially when you consider how much FUN building this brand has been,

Interacting with you, helping people via the DMs and in my Facebook group has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

It makes my day every time I get a message from one of you telling your story…

Amazing stories about quitting jobs or dropping out of college, or even simple thank-you messages saying I inspired you.

I love it.

Keep those messages coming & I’ll keep helping people.

That’s enough rambling for today.

Remember, test your ideas quickly & proceed based on the results.

And go all-in when you think you’ve got a winning idea.

Keep being awesome, folks.

See you tomorrow,
James Holt
