Received a great question today from one of my followers on Twitter.
(Go ask all your questions on Twitter – I answer every single one, but please make it a public message, not a DM so everyone can profit)
Basically, he wants to know whether I solely use Facebook Ads for my dropshipping stores.
Simple answer, I mostly use Facebook now, started with direct placements via IG influencers and have also dabbled in Google AdWords (with limited success).
However, that isn’t what he’s really asking. He doesn’t care what I do and neither do you…
You care about yourself and how you should be structuring things so let’s talk about that.
While I’ve personally stuck mostly to Facebook, I don’t necessarily think that’s the best route to go long-term.
There are many good platforms that can work. No reason to dogmatically stick to Facebook ads.
Having said that, moving to a different ad platform because you can’t turn your FB ads profitable is a HORRIBLE idea.
Yes, Facebook is getting more competitive.
But it’s still one of the easiest platforms to make money with in my opinion.
(IG influencers are even easier, but it’s not an advertising platform as such because you need to reach out to the pages directly)
If you can’t make FB ads work, you’ll struggle everywhere.
Seriously, moving to Snapchat, Pinterest or Twitter ads is not the solution to your issues.
If you can’t make money on Facebook, you’re doing something wrong. Figure that out before trying a new ad platform.
Having said that, there is a massive upside to people who have a successful store already & then master a new ad platform.
That could really put a lot of money in your pocket.
But it isn’t going to be easy. You’ll have to do a ton of testing on the new platform to figure things out.
On Facebook, many have succeeded before you. There is a clear path laid out for you to follow. You won’t have this luxury if you go off the beaten path.
A lot of beginners underestimate that from what I’ve seen. They think competition is the main factor deciding over whether they’ll be successful when in reality, that isn’t the whole truth.
So, by all means, test new ad platforms if you think you can make it work. But be willing to spend a lot of time, energy & money to get the hang of it.
And no, it likely isn’t easier than Facebook ads – it’s going to be a whole lot harder because you need to figure everything out yourself.
The potential upside is huge though. If you want to go down this route, go for it.
And please do share your experiences. I’d love to hear from guys trying to advertise on Twitter, Pinterest or Snapchat.
That’s all for today.
See you in tomorrow’s email,
James Holt
P.S. If you figure out how to make money advertising on a somewhat untapped platform (basically everything outside Facebook and AdWords), you should probably start teaching what you learn. I’d pay for a course that teaches me how to make money advertising on Twitter for example…
