Many of you are perfectionists.
It’s not your fault…Society has raised us all to be perfectionists.
Perfectionism is rewarded in schools.
At my school, we were never put under enough time pressure where students who could produce good (but not perfect) results quickly were rewarded.
Even at tests, we always had plenty time. All that mattered was having the right answer at the end.
That is not the case in business – especially when you’re trying to get your first online business off the ground.
That’s why you need to take steps to killing the perfectionist inside of you.
The best way I’ve found to do this is to set yourself a lofty publishing goal. Once you decide that you’re going to publish a YouTube video every single day, you quickly learn the benefit of producing content that is “good enough”.
Same is true for the daily emails you are reading just now. Do you think I proofread these? Do you think I create a mind-map?
Hell no.
(Fucking hated those mind-maps & every teacher that ever made me create one)
I write these emails quickly. Takes me about 15-30 minutes depending on the length. Most of the time is spent on coming up with a headline (which is a personal weakness of mine).
I doubt I’ve ever sent out an email without a spelling or grammatical error.
And yet, you guys love them. Hundreds of people read every email I send out. I get replies every day thanking me for my content.
Hopefully, you get the point: Perfectionism is the hurdle between you and a profitable online business.
That’s all for today’s email.
See you tomorrow,
James Holt
P.S. I’m no longer answering all my emails, sorry. I replied to 99% of all questions I received in the past 4 months, but it is becoming overwhelming.
I’ll still read every message & if you ask a good question, I’ll cover it in an email, tweet or YouTube video.
Thank you for understanding and more importantly, thank you all for the amazing support you’ve given me over the past few months.
