Yesterday I told you that you need to learn copywriting. I also gave you my step-by-step formula for doing that.
As promised, today you’re going to learn how to use those copywriting skills to put zeros in your bank account.
Copywriting knowledge alone won’t do much for you. Once you start putting that knowledge into practice, your life (well, your bank account at least) will transform.
The ways I’ve made money through copywriting are:
Brief stint as a freelance writer
Made tens of thousands of dollars passively through my niche sites
Writing ads & sales pages for my dropshipping stores
Writing emails & sales pages for my personal brand
All of those business models are a good choice for the right person.
How do you know which one to choose?
Well, freelancing is for people who are risk-averse.
The idea of losing time or money on an idea that doesn’t work bothers you? Freelancing is for you.
Niche sites are ideal for guys that love writing.
If you’re currently blogging, you’re in the ideal situation to make money with niche sites because you already know how WordPress works.
Dropshipping is great if you’ve got money to invest & want to learn paid advertising.
Instead of waiting for months to see whether your idea will work (as is required with niche sites), you’ll find out within a few days.
The downside is, instead of just losing your time on failed ideas, those failures cost you money.
You’ve got a very fast feedback loop, but it’s an expensive one. Pros and cons to everything.
Personal branding is for everybody.
Seriously, regardless of which business model you choose, you should start a personal brand at the same time to share your experiences.
Alternatively, you could teach something unrelated to making money online.
If you’ve got some sort of unique experience with a topic that has a broad appeal, start teaching it online.
This is probably the one area you don’t want to pick a niche. The most profitable info-marketing spaces seem to be health, wealth and dating from what I’ve seen.
Sure, you could make it work by going really niche, but generally, you’ll do best if you stay with one of those topics.
Here’s what you need to do know…
Without overthinking this decision, which of these 4 business models appeals to you most?
There’s probably 1 that jumps out at you, right?
1 business model where you already have an idea that excites you, right?
Pick that and start working on it in your free time.
You don’t need to quit your job. You don’t need to drop out of college. Just do it for 1-2 hours per day before or after work.
Seriously, that’s all it takes.
Sounds too good to be true? Well, it kind of is.
But realize that you will face mental struggles. When everyone else is having fun on Friday night, you’ll be staying in working on a niche site.
After you’ve been doing this for WEEKS and haven’t made a cent yet, you’ll start to doubt whether this is really possible.
Sure, you’re full of excitement NOW, but that can change.
After losing money & time, you’ll start to wonder whether listening to that James Holt kid was a smart decision after all.
Those are the real issues you’ll face if you go down this path. If you can work through those & start making money, it’s smooth sailing from there.
You’re not going to quit once you’re making $1000/month. Especially, if that’s fairly passive income.
The only question is whether you’re willing to put in the hours of work required to get there in the first place.
Some of you are NOT willing to do that. Others are.
It’s the latter group I write these emails for.
With all that said, it’s time to wrap up this email.
Before I do that, I just want to announce that I’ll be having the “1000-subscriber” sale tomorrow. I really appreciate you guys that read these emails. Just want to give everyone who has signed up after the launch of my course the opportunity to get in at $497 as well.
The discount code is only going to last for 24 hours so definitely open tomorrow’s email if you’re interested in that.
The sun is shining so I’m about to go for a walk along the river.
Nope, I’m not “selling the online entrepreneur dream”…I’m fully aware that I could have gone for the same walk along the river without ever building an online income source.
But I enjoy walking along the river knowing that I make more money than everyone else I see enjoying the sun.
(It feels good for my ego. Much needed when you’re an arrogant kid like myself determined to prove everyone wrong)
See you tomorrow,
James Holt
